Master IELTS's trickiest task. Evidence selection required.
Selected Evidence:
Your answer:
✓ Correct! ✗ Incorrect - Answer:
YES = The passage explicitly confirms the statement
NO = The passage explicitly contradicts the statement
NOT GIVEN = The passage contains no information about this
💡 Key: Don't use your own knowledge. Only use information in the passage.
Band 6
60-70% accuracy. Struggles with NOT GIVEN vs NO distinction.
Band 7
75-85% accuracy. Correctly identifies NOT GIVEN most of the time.
Band 8+
90%+ accuracy. Perfect NOT GIVEN recognition. Completes in 8 minutes.
💡 Band 7+ Strategy: NOT GIVEN means "no information exists" - don't confuse with "opposite information" (which is NO). If the passage discusses hotels but never mentions prices, price-related statements are NOT GIVEN.
